Physiotherapist, Clinical Director
When experience matters, there are not many in the industry that match Craig Leong. He has over 35 years of experience combining clinical interests in physiotherapy, acupuncture, injury recovery, muscle repair, post-operative rehabilitation and sports injuries. Craig’s philosophy is that therapy is most successful when people are treated as a whole human being, not as individual parts, and his work is focused on finding and treating the root causes of the injury. Craig also combines the best of traditional evidence based physiotherapy, with the principles and techniques of acupuncture and manual therapy.
Rachael brings a decade of Physiotherapy experience gained both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Rachael has vast knowledge in working with sports teams, post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation and occupational injuries. Rachael is our self-confessed fitness fanatic and with this comes a clinical interest in assessing and treating gym based, fitness and CrossFit specific injuries. On top of her Physiotherapy experience and skills, she also brings the additional attribute of a group fitness instructor at Les Mills. Rachael has particular interest in back and lower limb injuries but enjoys treating any challenging problem. She will ensure you understand WHY your injury has occurred and will treat the root cause to prevent re-injury. She uses a variety of techniques including dry needling, manual therapy, and of course exercise!
Tony ter Ellen
Tony brings a unique and effective collection of skills and history to the role of Physiotherapist at PhysioRX. Tony combines his skills as a Physiotherapist with that of being a Massage Therapist, Yoga Instructor as well as having a history of achievement as a high-level footballer. This history affords Tony the ability to combine the treatment skills of manual therapy, dry needling, kinesiology taping, massage and exercise rehabilitation, with a key understanding in sport, exercise and human movement.
MSK Rehabilitation & Performance Coach
“Fix yourself!” This phrase summarizes the work that Christian teaches his clients on a regular basis as it’s the key for long term progress in daily life performance, regardless of what activities they engage in. Christian started out as a regular personal trainer in a commercial gym, but later on ventured out to a different path of being a rehab & performance coach to help clients explore movement solutions to sort out their daily aches, niggles and imbalances that produce pain or discomfort. Christian’s clinical interest is in using different modalities in combination with NeuroKinetic Therapy, to find the best point of entry to get people moving again and learning how to fix themselves.
Rebecca’s experience and thirst for knowledge has seen her accumulate an impressive array of clinical interests. Her skills include a holistic, person centered approach that utilizes manual therapy and dry needling to return her clients to their vocations and sporting pursuits.
Over the last 2 years Rebecca has developed a clinical interest in women’s health physiotherapy, specifically for the management of urinary incontinence, back pain in pre-and post-partum and rectus diastasis. She continues to develop her skills order to offer more comprehensive services in this field.
If these impressive skills were not enough, Rebecca also has hands on experience in the design and implementation of gym and hydrotherapy-based rehabilitation programs to physically prepare for your return to work following injury or surgery.
Brought up in Hamilton, Jacky brings an additional skill of being fluent in Cambodian as well as being a qualified Physiotherapist from Otago University. Jacky is active within the Volleyball community in Hamilton which gives a unique understanding of the link between sporting injury and high level performance. Jacky combines a wide variety of assessment and treatment techniques and skills combined with exercise rehabilitation to achieve not only symptomatic relief, but also looks to embed injury prevention and re-occurrence.
Declan joins the PhysioRx team in early January 2021 following the completion of his Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy from Otago University. On top of the learnings from this prestigious 4 year degree, Declan also brings a unique clinical interest as a Certified Fitness Instructor, where he coaches athletes in Olympic Weightlifting and CrossFit. This unique combination of Physiotherapy education and in-depth understanding of human movement and potential, is what sets Declan apart from the norm.
Abi wings her way to the PhysioRx team all the way from the UK. Since qualifying as a Physiotherapist, Abi has worked continuously within the public NHS system in England at a Major Trauma Centre and teaching hospital, as well as having private practice experience. Gaining such a multifaceted skill set, born from a high-paced environment seeing all types of injuries, means that Abi has a unique understanding of the effects of injury and what is needed to return your body back to performing as it should.
Keiron comes to the PhysioRx with a unique skillset of working in mental health and other health and wellbeing areas for the last 8 years. The combination of his knowledge and passion sees him deliver a client centred massage therapy services that is primarily focused on preventative maintenance, recovery and general wellbeing.
On top of this wealth of knowledge, Keiron also brings a clinical interest in the management of Fibromyalgia symptoms through gentle but focused massage techniques.
